Bio
Marie Della Thomas is a Gospel Singer/Actress who believes what she is singing about and it is reflected in her lyric and
presentation during her performances. Marie\'s style has been compared to some of gospel greats like Shirley Caesar, Tramaine
Hawkins, and CeCe Winans. However, Marie Della Thomas unique voice and strong gospel sound is second to none. Her voice is
unforgettable; spirit filled, and will leave you wanting to hear more! Marie is a graduate of the renowned LaGuardia High
School of Music and Arts in New York City where she studied as a Vocal Music Major.
She would eventually become Director of her church choir and musician for the youth choir at her home church. In 1985, while
attending college, Marie an Education/Marketing major, married Robert J. Thomas/ President & CEO of T-Enterprises. Today along
with her music career, Marie and her husband are the proud parents of four children. Marie can be found every Sunday morning
at her home church The Mission of Hope Evangelistic Ministry where she enjoys being the Director of Music. In 1996, Marie
decided to pursue her dreams of becoming a gospel recording artist. Marie has sung backup for some of today’s well known
Gospel Artist such as: Tramaine Hawkins, Cissy Houston, Melba Moore etc. 2001, Marie released her debut project entitled “Rise
and Live,” available in stores. Having a unique style and perfect pitch, she showed her ability to write wonderful lyric,
in addition she enjoyed the challenge of singing the lead vocals, as well as all back ground vocals on the album. She won
the hearts of many after radio stations began playing the title cut of her debut album, "Rise and Live," in rotation.
Marie has often been called to perform for political figures. Marie toured Far Rockaway with Mark Green (NYC Public Advocate),
prior to his running for Mayor of NYC, and has worked with Congressman Meek etc. Mark Green said “the title song Rise
and Live from her debut album should be the anthem for New York City.” Since the release of her debut album Marie has
been featured in various concerts with some of Gospel greats such as: Trinity 5:7, Hezekiah Walker, Tonex, Rance Allen, etc.
In 2000, Marie was featured in McDonald’s Gospelfest -"The History of Gospel." Marie received rave reviews for her portrayal
of Mahalia Jackson. The production also starred Melba Moore, Gary Anglin, and was produced by her good friend A. Curtis Farrow,
of Irving Street Rep. She has also made several appearances on NY Fox 5 Morning show, Good-Day NY, for promotional segments
for McDonalds Gospelfest 2000-2008. Marie was given a leading role in Musical, “Gospitality” (ISR) displaying
her true Gospel Sound. 2005, Marie displayed her unique style and talent in her returning role of "The Witness", in the Gospel
Musical, "Your Arms Too Short To Box with God."
Marie is currently working on her 2nd album which will be self- titled “Marie Della Thomas.” The album will be
in stores at the end of summer 2008. April 2008 Marie released the first single from her up and coming project entitled: “Can’t
Find Nobody like Jesus.” This song is for everyone, and dedicated to the youth to let them know you can search all over,
but you CAN’T FIND NOBODY LIKE JESUS!
April 18, 2008 also marked a turning point in Marie’s career as an actress since she was given the lead role (as Mary)
in the revival of the musically “Your Arms Too Short To Box With God” held at the Ritz Theater in Jacksonville,
Fl. Marie received rave reviews and will be a part of the up and coming tour of this wonderful Irving Street Production (ISR).
